This is the first book in The Good News Shoes Series, with the 2nd book being  Riley Mae and the Ready Eddy Rapids. I found this book to be a delightful pleasure to read. Riley Mae is the main character of this book and she's quite a charming girl. She's 12 years old and the spokesperson for Swiftriver Shoe Company's new outdoor sports collection. At first she is thrilled to have this neat job and she proudly appears in commercials and magazine ads. The shoes are so awesome and she gets to keep a pair in every color for herself.  The shoes are called Riley Mae's and all the girls want a pair too.  But when she realizes that all this work cuts right in to her fun time and her softball season is over before it starts and her best friend T.J. is mad and her new friend Rusty is embarrassed. Something has to change, but what?  The book has some good lessons on friendship, family and doing what's right. The story has twists and turns that you want to keep on reading!
Riley Mae is a believable character. The author, Jill Osborne has done a fantastic job with this book. I'm an adult and I enjoyed reading this book. In my opinion the book would be perfect for a 9 to 12 year.  But even 13 years may enjoy this too.
Jill Osborne works in Children's ministry and her passion for telling great stories shows. I give this book 5 stars.
I received this book from Booklook bloggers in exchange for an honest review.
