This is so delicious and super easy to make!
Everyone here loved it and I continue to get compliments about how good it is. This recipe is so easy and simple and it's quite versatile. I love the chopped walnuts on top. They are optional. Another option is fruit filling. Yummy!
The following recipe is as pictured here. Note: fruit filling can also be used, blueberry, apple, cherry.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, at room temperature
2 cans crescent roll dough ( I used the honey butter flavored but original or butter flavor works)
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 to 1 cup of chopped walnuts optional
*Keep the cans of dough in the refrigerator until your ready to make this. Chilled dough is much easier to unroll.
*Set packages of cream cheese out on counter to soften at room temperature
Lightly grease bottom and sides of pan
Unroll the dough (looks like wedges) and place evenly across bottom of pan.
Mix softened cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar and vanilla until smooth, and spread on top of crescent dough.
(I used my electric mixer.)
Spread 2nd can of dough on top of cheese mixture. Be careful not to leave too many gaps in dough.
Pour melted butter evenly over crescent dough.
Mix 1/2 cup sugar with 1 teaspoons of cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of butter
Bake for 30 minutes.
Allow to cool before cutting.
Note: If desired 1/2 can fruit filling can be spread over cream cheese mixture before adding 2nd layer of dough Preheat oven to 350°F.

What would your family prefer? Plain cream cheese as shown or with fruit? Nuts or no nuts? At our house we love it as pictured but I'm looking forward to blueberry/cream cheese danish next.
